"I felt like I'd been transported hundreds of miles to a small town honky-tonk." Mark Mendez
“I like the way Slim introduces each song with a short story, yet keeps everything moving.” – Quincy Mostow
"I went to hear Chris Pestalozzi, aka Valentine Slim, with his band at Dietle's Tavern last night and greatly enjoyed it!
Dietle's is a really low key, old-time-roadhouse/neighborhood watering hole type place, on Rockville Pike just across and down from White Flint Mall (two worlds that could hardly be more different!) Free parking right outside - and a front porch for sitting outside with a cold beer.
And Valentine Slim knows all the lyrics to a HUGE repertoire of songs of many genres, from blues to Beatles to old Hank Williams to old folkies like Tim Hardin ("If I listened long enough to you...), and more that I don't know the names of. He also knows who wrote each song and who covered it!
He seems like one of those Living Treasures the Japanese recognize for their cultural expertise. Don't miss hearing this amazing musician, a hidden treasure in our midst!"
